I commenced as the principal at Albert Street in July 2009. Prior to that I was a lecturer for the Faculty of Education at Monash University teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. I also worked as an Education Officer of Professional Learning for the Catholic Education Office Sale Diocese working with primary principals and teachers. I began working at Moe Albert St Primary School at the beginning of 2019 after 25 years teaching in Special Education Settings – Emerson School and Baringa School. I started off my nursing career in a surgical Newborn Intensive Care Unit in Melbourne and worked there for approximately 5 years. I commenced my role as a Community Outreach Nurse whilst still working in Melbourne in 2019. I have been located at Albert Street Primary School since then. In addition to this, I also work as a chemotherapy nurse.Current Role: I work as a Community Outreach Nurse for the Latrobe Community Health Service (LCHS) at Albert Street Primary School (ASPS), Moe. My role includes but not limited to health education, health support, hearing screens, the implementation of health resources and programs into the school, student and family support and health referrals. I'm so grateful to be a part of the school community. I will be attending school events and participating in the school community whenever I can.Additional Roles: I work with the Wellbeing team, attend Wellbeing Team meetings and work with members from the Department of Education to help support students’ health needs.Professional Learning and Areas of Interest: I have a Bachelor of Nursing Practice from Monash University. I have attended many professional development days including paediatric study days, a continence study day, how to speak with children affected by trauma and have been upskilled in Reproductive Education. I have a couple of key interests including emergency care/first aid and reproduction education.Hobbies: I love to bake, it’s my favourite way to unwind. I love looking at old recipes and trying to recreate them. My partner and I have two dogs who are very spoilt. We love to take them on adventures and also love exploring the high country and the beach.

With 15 years of teaching experience, I have taught across all year levels and have held several leadership roles. My name is Bek Harkensee and I started at Albert St Primary School in October 2019. I previously worked at DHHS Child Protection for two years and before that I was home raising my three children.Current Role: My new role at ASPS in 2021, is the Primary Welfare Officer, where I hope to be a hands on support to all children, staff and their families.

I have been at Albert Street forever, commencing nearly 30 years ago as a parent volunteer. My 3 children all completed their primary education at Albert Street and my grandchild commenced this year. I taught at Albert Street for five years in the Junior Unit before going on maternity leave. I have since taught PE, worked in a support/relief role and am now mainly in the foundation room.Current Role: Providing planning and graduate release in the Foundation area.Additional Roles: Assist and support staff as needed.
